His death has prompted several legislative proposals in Florida aimed at honoring his memory and activism.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The proposed legislation extends beyond the annual day of recognition. Multiple bills have been filed in the Florida Legislature that would rename roads at every state university in Kirk\u2019s honor.
