Lightning strike sets trees ablaze in Cape Coral during Sunday storm<\/p>\n

A lightning strike during a storm in Cape Coral set trees on fire, prompting a response from the Cape Coral Fire Department as neighbors described the intense weather.<\/p>\n

\"Nehilah<\/a>CAPE CORAL, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\n

A powerful storm in Cape Coral brought heavy rain, intense lightning, and a smoky scene as trees along Southwest Second Terrace caught fire after being struck by lightning on Sunday. <\/p>\n

A neighbor captured video of the burning trees, showing smoke plumes rising into the air. The Cape Coral Fire Department confirmed the trees were struck by lightning. <\/p>\n

Marla Oyer, a Cape Coral resident, described hearing firefighters rush to the street.<\/p>\n

“Sirens going off…I mean we heard them all day,” Oyer said. <\/p>\n

Oyer also shared her experience of the storm\u2019s intensity. <\/p>\n

“Today it was so bad, and it was really loud. I had to cover my ears because they were ringing. It was so loud. Then all of a sudden car alarms were just going off all down the street,” she said. <\/p>\n
