TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man charged in connection with an armed robbery at Z-Mart earlier this year<\/a> has pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n

Laquinton Harris, 36, pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, the Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office wrote in a press release Monday.<\/p>\n

In the statement, the attorney\u2019s office included several images of recovered evidence that link Harris to the armed robbery as well as what an investigation revealed.<\/p>\n

Court records indicated that a masked gunman, later identified as the 36-year-old, robbed the Z Mart convenience store on Fred George Road back in January, \u201cduring which the gunman discharged his firearm onto the floor,\u201d the press release said.<\/p>\n

During the investigation of the incident, Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies found a bullet strike on the wooden flooring and a spent .22-caliber shell casing.<\/p>\n

Nearly three months later, a search warrant was executed at Harris\u2019 home, where officials said authorities found a .22-caliber rifle, which testing revealed matched the shell casing found in Z Mart, according to the statement. <\/p>\n

Distinctive clothing matching the robber\u2019s attire was also found in the Tallahassee man\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant\u2019s DNA was found on both the pants and gloves recovered during the search warrant,\u201d the attorney\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

Harris is expected to be sentenced Oct. 19.<\/p>\n

He faces a minimum of 7 years in prison, a maximum of life in prison, up to 5 years of supervised release and a fine of up to $750,000.<\/p>\n
