Pinellas Ale Works stepped in and acquired a large share of Dissent’s brewing equipment as part of that company’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings. However, some of the machinery has since been sold off, clearing space for additional tables.

Branded PAW Taps & Tails, the outpost will function alongside the brewery’s original Grand Central District taproom, which has served St. Petersburg since 2016. Visitors can expect up to 38 beers on tap, shared communal tables, and a merchandise section built around dog owners, stocked with collars, toys, and treats. Brewery Liaison and General Manager Jeromy J. Dana said a food truck could eventually join the property as well.

One advantage the Lealman site holds over its sister location: a sizable parking lot, something the Grand Central taproom lacks. Owners don’t intend to overhaul the building structurally, but planned cosmetic upgrades should let the taproom seat noticeably more guests than it did as Dissent.

Beyond serving as a second retail outlet, the Haines Road building will double as an active brewing site, giving the company more production room than its original facility allows. Cider may eventually join the beer offerings there. For now, Pinellas Ale Works pours the Milk Bone stout, Puppy Love hazy IPA, Schwarzhound dark German lager, and the award-winning 1888 Russian Imperial Stout.

Dana, who ran Dissent’s brewing operation for years before its closure, shared that the new location was designed with that history in mind. “We’re trying to pay homage to Dissent, in some ways,” Dana said. “We want to leave some nuances that will remind previous patrons of what it was, while doing our best to pay it forward.”

Live music, trivia, and a monthly Yappy Hour supporting local animal shelters, all mainstays at the Grand Central taproom, will carry over to the new Lealman location. Non-beer drinkers will find kombucha, seltzers, and sodas on the menu, too.

Dana credited Pinellas Ale Works owner Dennis Decker’s hands-on brewing philosophy for the company’s decade of momentum. “Dennis has a really traditional approach to brewing. He never cuts corners with the process,” Dana said. “If it wasn’t a great product, I don’t think people would be showing up like they have been for the past 10 years.”

Dog lovers and beer fans in Lealman will have a new gathering spot come this fall, as Pinellas…

[13
1593,596,202,204,203,199,201,200
post-367811","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-st-petersburg","tag-bars","tag-pinellas-county","tag-st-pete","tag-st-pete-headlines","tag-st-pete-news","tag-st-petersburg","tag-st-petersburg-headlines","tag-st-petersburg-news
["GET
