TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida State\u2019s Doak Campbell Stadium has a new voice.<\/p>\n
Florida State University has named Eric Luallen as the new public address announcer at Doak Campbell Stadium.<\/p>\n
Luallen, a former FSU football student-athlete and the current radio play-by-play voice for FSU baseball, will take over the public address announcing duties for Seminoles football, the university announced Monday in a press release.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am incredibly humbled to be given this opportunity, in this stadium, almost 40 years to the day after I reported for my first practice under Coach Bowden,\u201d he said. \u201cI feel like the luckiest person in the world to have the honor to serve my alma mater through my 20 seasons as the radio voice of FSU baseball and now also this opportunity with Florida State football.\u201d<\/p>\n
The announcement comes a month after former \u201cVoice of Doak\u201d Woody Hayes exclusively told WCTV<\/a> he was blindsided by the university\u2019s decision to relieve him of his public address announcing duties.<\/p>\n More Tallahassee News<\/p>\n Hayes had served as the voice of Doak Campbell Stadium for 16 years. He said in July that the decision was delivered to him over a phone call that lasted less than two minutes.<\/p>\n \u201cI tried to get more answers than what I got and I was met with, we\u2019re going in a new direction,\u201d Hayes told WCTV.<\/p>\n Luallen played offensive line for FSU under College Football Hall of Fame head coach Bobby Bowden from 1986-89, according to the university.<\/p>\n In 2007, he began his FSU baseball broadcasting career and has called \u201c984 games on the radio, including six College World Series appearances, four ACC tournament championships and three regular-season conference titles,\u201d the press release wrote.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Luallen has contributed to FSU football pregame radio shows and anchored the debut season of GameDay Live on the Seminoles Unconquered app from inside Doak Campbell Stadium last year.<\/p>\n Florida State is expected to open its 2026 football season at home Aug. 29 against New Mexico State.<\/p>\n To keep up with the latest news as it develops, follow WCTV on Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>, YouTube<\/a>, Nextdoor<\/a> <\/a>and X<\/a> (Twitter<\/a>).<\/p>\n Have a news tip or see an error?
