(WICS\/WRSP)\u2014 Jacksonville police will increase patrols from Aug. 14 through the early morning hours of Sept. 8 as part of statewide Labor Day enforcement campaigns targeting impaired driving and seat belt violations.<\/p>\n<p>The Jacksonville Police Department is among more than 200 Illinois agencies participating in the &#8220;Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,&#8221; &#8220;Drive High. Get a DUI&#8221; and &#8220;Click It or Ticket&#8221; campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Officers will focus on drivers impaired by alcohol, cannabis or other drugs, as well as drivers and passengers not wearing seat belts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Plan ahead, use a designated driver, and never get behind the wheel impaired,&#8221; Jacksonville Police Chief Doug Thompson said. &#8220;These decisions save lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation and federal highway safety funds.\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"JACKSONVILLE, Ill.
