But not all hope is lost. It\u2019s still possible to watch Matt Damon\u2019s Odysseus take on monsters, witches and giants on the museum\u2019s six-story-high screen. The film\u2019s run at the museum\u2019s theater ends Sept. 16, and there are still a few tickets up for grabs.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThose are filling up quickly. I would encourage people to definitely not be like, \u2018Oh, I can get my tickets in a couple of weeks,\u2019\u201d Cox said. \u201cI would definitely get tickets now if you want to see it before it leaves. What we have here at the Auto Nation IMAX Theater is an experience in South Florida that people are flocking to from all over.\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s another obstacle moviegoers must face: the line to get into the theater. Unlike most movie theaters, seating at the AutoNation IMAX 3D Theater is not assigned. That means ticket holders need to wait in line before showtime starts, and the best seats are first-come-first-serve.<\/p>\n Most people get to the theater about an hour before showtime. For the best chance at grabbing your preferred seats, show up earlier than you\u2019d think to \u2014 about 90 minutes beforehand.<\/p>\n At an extra cost, the theater sells priority entrance tickets that allow access into the theater a few minutes earlier than general admission tickets. Out of the 263 tickets sold for each showtime, 100 priority entrance tickets are available.<\/p>\n Tickets are $25 and an extra $8.75<\/a> for priority entrance. There\u2019s also the VIP Priority IMAX Experience<\/a> that offers 10 VIP tickets, priority theater entry, five reserved parking spaces, 10 large popcorns and fountain drinks with unlimited refills, 10 Odyssey-themed desserts and a private IMAX booth tour for $1,500.<\/p>\n The movie\u2019s popularity has been a boon to the museum, which is close to breaking its record of 57,200 ticket sales which was set in 2009 by \u201cAvatar.\u201d So far, over 55,500 tickets have been sold for \u201cThe Odyssey,\u201d Cox said.<\/p>\n Cox credited the museum\u2019s highly skilled projectionists with maintaining and operating the museum\u2019s IMAX 70mm projector, a rare piece of technology that the museum wants to preserve. Working with IMAX 70mm, both for filming and projecting, is very technically difficult and expensive.
