He\u2019s now facing a felony charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/08\/11\/arrestan-a-cocinero-de-broward-tras-desaparecer-mas-de-2000-usd-en-filetes-dicen-agentes\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/08\/11\/arrestan-a-cocinero-de-broward-tras-desaparecer-mas-de-2000-usd-en-filetes-dicen-agentes\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office arrest report states that CCTV footage from Aug. 2 showed Rahul Pandey, 26, of Fort Lauderdale, along with a co-worker identified as a co-defendant, Deanza Hodge, walking out of the convention center with \u201ctwo white bags contain(ing) New York strip steaks and beef tenderloins\u201d worth $2,083.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The two, who work for an outside company managing the convention center, then loaded the steaks into Hodge\u2019s vehicle, authorities said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said a kitchen chef had inventoried the beef the day before the crime and then again on Thursday, noticing the steaks had vanished.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cDuring a post-Miranda interview, (Pandey) admitted that he knew the bag contained food belonging to his employer, although he claimed he did not know the specific type of food inside,\u201d the report states, in part. \u201c(He) further admitted that he knew removing the bag for Hodge was wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Pandey was arrested on Monday and is facing a grand theft charge.
