Stats & Storylines

– Orlando City fell 2-1 to Club León this past weekend, putting itself in a difficult position to qualify for the Leagues Cup knockout phase. On the plus side, Marco Pašalić made his first start since May 16 and scored with his patented left foot, adding yet another weapon to Martín Perelman’s arsenal of attackers. Orlando has scored 36 times in its last 14 games, with an 8W-5L-1D record in that span.

– Tyrese Spicer was at it again, assisting Pašalić’s goal for his fourth straight game with a goal contribution. Spicer has 3g/3a in his past four matches and is up to 8g/7a in just 1141 minutes across 30 games (nine starts) for Orlando City. Leagues Cup does not count secondary assists, or Antoine Griezmann would have added one to his total as well.

– Maxime Crépeau continued to shine in net, making eight saves against León and keeping Orlando in the game. Crépeau has saved 24 of 30 shots on target for an .800 save percentage in six matches since starring for Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

– Orlando is in the midst of a lengthy homestand that spans the first three weeks of August. The Lions play six matches at Inter.co Stadium in an 18-day span, with this final Leagues Cup Phase One game against Atlético de San Luis followed by three consecutive MLS matches against Cincinnati (8/15), Chicago (8/19) and Real Salt Lake (8/22).

– León became just the third Liga MX team to defeat Orlando City without a penalty-kick shootout and the first since Tigres UANL in the CONCACAF Champions Cup in March 2024. Orlando’s last home defeat to a Liga MX club was its first match ever against Mexican competition, a 1-0 loss to Santos Laguna in August 2021.
