Miami, FL – Federal prosecutors are asking a Miami judge to keep Andrew and Tristan Tate in custody as the brothers fight extradition to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
The request comes days after attorneys for the Tate brothers sought their release from federal custody while the extradition case moves through court. <\/p>\n
A hearing is scheduled Thursday to determine whether they will remain jailed or can be released under certain conditions.<\/p>\n
Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on July 18th by the U.S. Marshals Service after British authorities requested their extradition.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors in the United Kingdom are seeking to prosecute the brothers on dozens of charges involving seven alleged victims. <\/p>\n
The charges include allegations of rape, human trafficking, sexual assault and other offenses.<\/p>\n
Andrew Tate faces charges that include rape and allegedly arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. <\/p>\n
Tristan Tate also faces rape and trafficking-related charges. The alleged offenses date from 2010 through 2017.<\/p>\n
Both brothers have denied wrongdoing and have not been convicted of the charges.<\/p>\n
Attorneys for the Tates have argued they should be released while challenging extradition. <\/p>\n
Proposed conditions include surrendering their passports and submitting to electronic monitoring.<\/p>\n
The defense has also pointed to the brothers’ international profiles and previous compliance with restrictions imposed during separate criminal proceedings in Romania.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors, however, contend the brothers should remain detained during the extradition process.<\/p>\n
The legal battle could continue for months as the court considers Britain’s request and arguments from the defense.<\/p>\n
The brothers are dual American and British citizens.<\/p>\n
