On Oct. 16 and 17, 2026, III Points will return to Miami at Mana Wynwood for its yearly music festival. The event, which brings together hip hop, electronic dance music (EDM) and experimental genres, creates a bridge between national acts and the underground local Miami music scene, serving as both an international festival and a platform for regional artists to showcase their talents.<\/p>\n
Every year, III Points hosts an open house for local artists to \u201caudition\u201d for a spot on the lineup. The open house, which will be held for two nights at Las Rosas on Aug. 12 and 13, features some of Miami\u2019s premiere bands, DJs and producers. This week, The Miami Times spoke to three artists who will be competing for that final place on the lineup about their genres, their musical influences and what to expect at this year\u2019s III Points Open House.<\/p>\n

SUCIA! is a DJ, producer and artist born and raised in New York City who relocated to Miami about two years ago. Her style is all about highlighting Black dance music and Black contributions to electronic music, with inspirations ranging from R&B to House to Footwork to Jungle. Her Caribbean roots are important to her composition and production, and she makes an effort to \u201ctap in\u201d more culturally to her heritage and her surroundings in Miami.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love how Miami operates when it comes to community because it\u2019s very small,\u201d said SUCIA!. \u201cA lot of scenes overlap with each other, and just to be accepted as an outsider, I have felt so much love from all the scenes out here that I dabble in. I\u2019ve never felt like I wasn\u2019t good enough. Every DJ that I\u2019ve met has made space for me at their table.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her performance at Las Rosas is going to feature primarily original music. The set lengths are only 25 minutes, so she hopes to surprise everybody with \u201csomething a little different\u201d while still maintaining her artistic identity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a very spiritual person, so usually in the beginning of my sets, I\u2019ll play some Yoruban prayer, and I try to engage people that way,\u201d said SUCIA!. \u201cI try to give an experience, not just a DJ standing behind a booth pressing buttons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so much about all of us, so many different parts and pieces to us, and when you break that down and channel that into something artistic, it ends up being very beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mijita<\/p>\n
Mijita is a Miami-based hyperpop and rock artist who recently returned to Florida from New York City. Growing up in a family of musicians, she spent a lot of time in and out of the studio. She likes to explore different musical elements and describes her style as sitting within a \u201cmulti-genre space.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMy uncle has always made music, and my room was above the studio,\u201d said Mijita. \u201cSo I find that my inspirations are very eclectic. I find I have a lot of different sounds and a lot of different genres that I like to play around with. A lot of what I’m doing, now and [in] these next couple years, is going to be really solidifying where my little world lives between those genres.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mijita grew up in Florida but never felt like her community held a \u201cspace\u201d for her.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow I feel like I\u2019m kind of carving out my own space and being able to represent myself and show myself,\u201d she said. \u201cI think that music is the great connector. She\u2019s the glue for us all.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the open house, Mijita is focusing on creating a performance that she is proud of. She wants the energy to be communal, a sort of give-and-take between herself and the audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIII Points as a festival is so integral to Miami culture,\u201d said Mijita. \u201cIt\u2019s a nice moment to just celebrate all types of music in Miami. For me personally, I\u2019m just really excited about performance and the idea of being able to connect with the people out here.\u201d<\/p>\n

PlaySHADO is a Miami native, multi-media artist and DJ. He pulls from his Haitian-Dominican background and Miami upbringing to create original music that blends the genres he heard growing up. He wants his audience to hear all of his musical influences, and describes his own sound as the \u201cessence of Miami.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of my music has different vibes, but like the same universe,\u201d said PlaySHADO. \u201cIt\u2019s like different countries, but the same world.\u201d<\/p>\n
PlaySHADO makes music for \u201cpeople who want to do things with their life.\u201d He wants to inspire people to do what they want to do creatively. At the open house, he hopes to combine the past and future of Miami to bring a lot of distinct energies to the stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that what makes Miami different is just the environment,\u201d he said. \u201cThe music matches the atmosphere. It\u2019s so many different walks of life down here, so many different vibes and sounds. There\u2019s something for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
