(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\">WWSB<\/a>) &#8211; A woman in Port Charlotte was tased by a sheriff\u2019s deputy Aug. 10 after she allegedly threatened a deputy with a knife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Charlotte County Sheriffs Office deputies were investigating the theft and burglary of a vehicle in Port Charlotte when they spotted a woman running away from the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to a probable cause affidavit, a deputy gave chase and ordered the woman to stop. He observed the woman, later identified as Olesya A. Trukhan, 33, pulling on the door handle of another vehicle. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He again ordered her to stop, but Trukhan fled again into the yard of a home on Ladner Avenue, the affidavit said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/2026\/08\/11\/venice-man-arrested-mass-shooting-threat-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/2026\/08\/11\/venice-man-arrested-mass-shooting-threat-charges\/\">Venice man arrested on mass shooting threat charges<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">As the deputy continued to chase her, \u201cTrukhan was armed with a fixed blade knife with her right hand out in front of her body and assumed a fighting stance,\u201d the affidavit said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Trukhan turned to run again, but the deputy deployed his Taser, causing Trukhan to fall to the ground. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Other deputies arrived to secure Trukhan in handcuffs and take her into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After treatment at a hospital, Trukhan reportedly told deputies she had quit her job that morning and armed herself with a knife because she believed she was being followed by unidentified people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Trukhan was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WWSB.
