ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 It\u2019s a long way away, but it\u2019s never too early to get excited for arguably one of the most breathtaking phenomenon, a total solar eclipse.<\/p>\n
Wednesday a spectacular total solar eclipse dazzled skies across the pond. Only a sliver the northeast U.S. saw a partial solar eclipse.<\/p>\n
19 years to the day Central Florida will experience totality. <\/p>\n
Central Florida observed a partial solar eclipse in 2017 and 2024, where only a portion of the sun appears to be blocked by the moon. <\/p>\n
While a partial eclipse is certainly cool, it\u2019s nothing compared to totality. <\/p>\n
For a moment in the middle of the afternoon, the sky goes nearly dark, the brightest stars and planets become visible and the sun\u2019s wispy atmosphere can be seen.<\/p>\n
Most of Central Florida will be in the path of totality on Aug. 12, 2045.<\/p>\n
2045 Total Solar Eclipse<\/p>\n
Areas on and around the center line will be in totality for more than 6 minutes. Everyone in the black shaded region will experience totality.<\/p>\n
The extreme northeast sliver of Flagler County is the only region of Central Florida not in totality.<\/p>\n
To get the full effect you must be in 100% in the path of totality; 99.9% won\u2019t even cut it.<\/p>\n
What makes the eclipse even more special is the time spent in totality. the 2045 eclipse will feature an extra 90 seconds of the main event.<\/p>\n
2045 Time In Totality:<\/p>\n
Kissimmee, Celebration, Poinciana, Groveland, Clermont: Greater than 6 minutes<\/p>\n
Orlando, Apopka, The Villages: Nearly 6 minutes<\/p>\n
Ocala: Approximately 5 minutes and 40 seconds<\/p>\n
Titusville: Approximately 4 minutes and 30 seconds<\/p>\n
Daytona Beach: Approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds<\/p>\n
Totality is the only portion of a total solar eclipse where you can remove the approved eclipse glasses as the moon is completely covering the sun.<\/p>\n
Things to watch for<\/p>\n
Glasses are needed to observe the portion of the eclipse leading up to totality. <\/p>\n
You officially have 19 years to find yourself a pair.<\/p>\n
