{"id":370650,"date":"2026-08-13T20:16:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T20:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/370650\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T20:16:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T20:16:08","slug":"governors-highway-safety-program-jacksonville-police-host-bikesafe-event-aug-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/370650\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor\u2019s Highway Safety Program, Jacksonville Police host BikeSafe event Aug. 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Jacksonville Police Department says they will host a free BikeSafe Rider Skills Day beginning at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n<p> The program, offered in partnership with the Governor\u2019s Highway Safety Program, allows motorcyclists to receive an assessment of their current riding skills and professional feedback intended to improve safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BikeSafe program offers motorcyclists in Jacksonville a hybrid educational experience with the opportunity to provide individual feedback on road performance from our certified assessors,\u201d Police Chief Ashley Weaver said.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials, participants must register by Wednesday, Aug. 26. All registrants must have a valid motorcycle endorsement or learner\u2019s permit, and their motorcycle must be insured.<\/p>\n<p>The Jacksonville Police Department has participated in BikeSafe since 2010 and has four certified assessors. Sgt. James Smallwood serves as the department\u2019s BikeSafe site coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Course details, schedules and additional requirements are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/bikesafenc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">bikesafenc.com<\/a>.
