APOPKA, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 A Good Samaritan<\/a> was shot and killed after he tried to intervene in a fight between a man and a woman Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office<\/a>, the shooting happened near Plymouth Sorrento and West Ponkan roads in Apopka. The arrest affidavit says deputies responded after receiving reports of a man and woman fighting inside a vehicle that eventually crashed. While authorities were responding, they learned someone had been shot.<\/p>\n

The affidavit says when deputies arrived, they found the suspect, identified as Raul Vazquez, and the woman near a heavily damaged pickup truck. Deputies also found the Good Samaritan suffering from a gunshot wound on a nearby sidewalk. <\/p>\n

According to the arrest report, witnesses told deputies the Good Samaritan, identified as Daryl Hill, arrived at the scene on a bicycle and tried to intervene in an argument between Vazquez and the woman. The report says a fight ensued, leading to all three ending up in nearby bushes.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told investigators that Hill eventually emerged from the bushes with his hands raised, yelled for help and began running away. The affidavit says Vazquez then went to his pickup truck, retrieved a shotgun and fired once, striking Hill. One witness told investigators Hill had nothing in his hands when he was shot.<\/p>\n

Hill, 56, was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. <\/p>\n

Vazquez now faces a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm. Investigators also learned Vazquez was already out on bond in connection with an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon case investigated by the Apopka Police Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"APOPKA, Fla.
