Uber passenger accused of beating driver, stealing car in Fort Pierce<\/p>\n

Charges against Daniel Presume are carjacking, battery, fleeing and eluding, grand theft.<\/p>\n

\"AllenFORT PIERCE, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\n

A 25-year-old man is accused of beating an Uber driver and stealing the car, Fort Pierce police said. <\/p>\n

On Wednesday, officers responded to the area of South 25th Street and Virginia Avenue regarding a reported carjacking involving an Uber driver. <\/p>\n

The investigation revealed that the passenger allegedly struck the driver multiple times, causing him to exit the vehicle. The suspect then took the Tesla Model Y. <\/p>\n

An officer quickly located the stolen vehicle traveling on Virginia Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. <\/p>\n

The driver initially failed to stop but was taken into custody a short time later after the vehicle came to a stop on Oleander Boulevard. <\/p>\n

The suspect, identified as Daniel Presume, was arrested and faces charges of carjacking, battery, fleeing and eluding, and grand theft. <\/p>\n

He was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail, and was being held on $55,000 bond. <\/p>\n
