Waterspout reported over Caloosahatchee River in downtown Fort Myers thunderstorm<\/p>\n

Gulf Coast News viewers reported seeing a waterspout on the Caloosahatchee River around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 14.<\/p>\n

Based on viewer-submitted video, the waterspout formed just north of the Edison Bridge that links downtown Fort Myers to North Fort Myers. <\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service, a wind gust of 52 mph was measured in downtown Fort Myers at the buoy <\/a>in the river near the downtown bridges.<\/p>\n

Waterspout spotted by Gulf Coast News viewer Anthony S. north of the Edison Bridge from downtown Fort Myers.. <\/p>\n

A round of strong thunderstorms was moving over downtown Fort Myers toward North Fort Myers at the time the waterspout was reported by Gulf Coast News viewers. <\/p>\n

As of 7:15 p.m. on Friday, August 14, there have been no reports of the waterspout moving onshore or causing any damage. <\/p>\n
