The Jacksonville City Council has passed a resolution honoring nearly 2,000 local poll workers and recognizing August 11 as National Poll Worker Recruitment Day.<\/p>\n
Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland announced the formal recognition, which commends election workers for their service during local elections.<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n The U.S. Election Assistance Commission established National Poll Worker Recruitment Day in 2020 to promote civic engagement and recruit community members to assist at polling sites.<\/p>\n Poll workers prepare voting locations, verify voter registrations, hand out ballots and assist voters during early voting periods and on Election Day.<\/p>\n The celebration on Aug. 11 marks Duval County’s sixth year participating in the national initiative.
