A Florida man was arrested following a standoff with the police after he allegedly threatened an Amazon driver <\/a>with a gun over a misdelivered package. <\/p>\n

Police said the suspect, George Manuel Mandes, 57, barricaded himself inside his Wilton Manors condominium apartment on Thursday afternoon before they were able to convince him to turn himself in.<\/p>\n

Security video footage from a home at the Manor Grove Apartments complex showed the Amazon delivery driver placing a package in front of Mandes\u2019 door. He then looked around and picked up the package after noticing he had the wrong address, and proceeded to deliver it to the correct unit. The driver confirmed the mistake, according to a police report.<\/p>\n

Moments after the Amazon worker <\/a>returned to his van, a doorbell video showed Mandes holding what appeared to be a gun in his right hand as he walked down the hallway. He then approached the driver at his van and confronted him about the package.<\/p>\n

According to the police report, Mandes pulled a \u201csmall black handgun\u201d from his waistband and pointed it at the driver.<\/p>\n

Police said Mandes then returned to his apartment, where he barricaded himself before a SWAT team was dispatched and surrounded the apartment complex for two hours as negotiators tried to get Mandes to stand down.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Mandes granted them permission to conduct a search inside his residence, where they recovered a firearm and placed him under arrest.<\/p>\n

Mandes, who was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was released from Broward County jail Friday after posting bail.<\/p>\n

When approached by reporters, Mandes said it was a \u201ctotal misunderstanding\u201d and declined to share any details of the incident.<\/p>\n

Amazon spokesperson Eileen Hards confirmed to The Post in a statement that the driver made a mistake in delivering the package to the wrong address and then dropped it off at its correct destination.<\/p>\n
