{"id":373248,"date":"2026-08-16T22:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T22:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/373248\/"},"modified":"2026-08-16T22:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T22:10:09","slug":"flight-full-of-relief-items-set-to-take-off-from-opa-locka-bound-for-colombia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/373248\/","title":{"rendered":"Flight full of relief items set to take off from Opa-locka bound for Colombia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 16, 2026 at 5:34 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Updated:\u00a0August 16, 2026 at 5:53 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">OPA-LOCKA, Fla.  \u2014 Search operations continue in Colombia nearly one week after a powerful earthquake shook the nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The death toll has risen to over 290 people, with 140 still missing and nearly 4,000 injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A relief flight is taking off from South Florida on Sunday, sending much-needed supplies to survivors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The pilot, Juan Rojas, is making his second flight back to Colombia, this time carrying about 2,000 pounds of medical supplies. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re aiming to go to three cities,\u201d he said. \u201cThis airplane is going to head down to Pereira, which is super close to the center of all the damage, one of the cities that has suffered the most. We\u2019re gonna center most of this help to them.
