LEESBURG, Fla. \u2014 An Orlando-area Army veteran will receive a refurbished vehicle Tuesday through a program that provides reliable transportation to people in need.<\/p>\n

Christopher Allen will be presented with a refurbished 2022 Honda CR-V at Community Collision Centers in Leesburg.<\/p>\n

Allen served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1985. Without a reliable vehicle, he currently walks or pays for rideshare services to attend medical appointments and complete errands, according to event organizers.<\/p>\n

The vehicle is expected to provide Allen with greater independence while recognizing his military service.<\/p>\n

How the vehicle donation came together<\/p>\n

Allen was nominated to receive the vehicle by Find, Feed & Restore, a Central Florida organization that provides housing assistance to families with children experiencing or at risk of homelessness.<\/p>\n

Allstate donated the vehicle, and technicians at Community Collision Centers refurbished it through the National Auto Body Council\u2019s Recycled Rides program.<\/p>\n

Several automotive businesses and community partners also contributed services and materials to prepare the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The presentation is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community Collision Centers, located at 111 E. North Boulevard in Leesburg.<\/p>\n

About Recycled Rides<\/p>\n

The Recycled Rides program brings together collision repair companies, insurers and other automotive businesses to repair and donate vehicles to people who need dependable transportation.<\/p>\n

Organizers say the program has donated more than 3,750 vehicles valued at approximately $67 million since it began in 2007.<\/p>\n

Allstate has contributed nearly 400 vehicles through the program.<\/p>\n
