Chip LaMarca.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Former Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Mayor Chris Vincent finished second with 29%, followed by pediatric plastic surgeon Eric \u201cDoc\u201d Stelnicki at 28% and insurance executive Raul Gallon at 5%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anijar now faces Democrat Michael Ferguson, a lawyer and former Air Force special trial counsel who grew up in the district, in the Nov. 3 General Election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anijar did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of only two Republican-held House seats in Broward County was open for the first time in eight years, and four men competed for the right to defend the GOP\u2019s foothold in the district.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaytrumbull.com\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-723469\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/jay-trumbull-florida-politics-banner-ads-728x90-b-scaled-e1740688220698.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flhouse.gov\/FileStores\/Web\/District\/DistrictMaps\/large\/HD_100_Large.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">HD 100<\/a> traces the Broward coastline from southern Fort Lauderdale north to the Palm Beach County line, hugging the corridor between Federal Highway and the Atlantic. It takes in slices of Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Deerfield Beach, plus several smaller municipalities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Registration in the district skews about 5 percentage points in Republicans\u2019 favor, with third- and no-party voters accounting for a 30% share of the district\u2019s electorate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Donald Trump carried the district with 53.3% of the vote in 2024, and Gov. Ron DeSantis won there by nearly 12 points two years before that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anijar, a 35-year-old corporate lawyer and U.S. Army Reserve JAG captain, was the <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/717355-this-is-our-time-to-fight-back-yoni-anijar-files-to-succeed-term-limited-chip-lamarca-in-hd-100\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">first to file<\/a> for the HD 100 race in January 2025. He is a first-generation American, born to Israeli immigrants, and was the only candidate who reached the ballot by petition rather than pay a qualifying fee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He ran on a promise to support pandemic-era accountability and strengthen election integrity, asserting in an interview with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/2026\/07\/20\/for-gop-voters-in-house-100-doc-stelnicki-endorsement\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">South Florida Sun-Sentinel<\/a> that he believes the 2020 election was \u201crigged\u201d \u2014 the only candidate in the race to do so.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/beckerlawyers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-774002 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Becker-Print-Ads-EMPOWER_728-x-90.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anijar has experience with the legislative process; he completed three internships between 2011 and 2014 in the Florida House and Congress.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He carried endorsements from Republican National Committee Chair and state Sen. Joe Gruters, state Rep. Meg Weinberger, rumored to be a top contender for Lieutenant Governor under GOP front-runner Byron Donalds, and Broward Young Republicans, where he once served as Vice President.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anijar put $235,000 of his own money into the race atop about $282,000 raised through late July, by which time he had spent roughly $211,000 of that sum, much of it on mail and advertising.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Opponents flagged his voter registration history; he was a Democrat until 2022 and then briefly registered with the Independent Party before joining the GOP, also in 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gallon, 54, built his campaign around a focus on property insurance and overdevelopment, and he offered the field\u2019s clearest break with his own party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Asked where he disagrees with Republican leadership, he pointed to preemption, arguing the state has <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/751282-live-local-gap-new-watchdog-report-says-updated-law-still-overlooks-floridas-missing-middle\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">stripped too much zoning<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/663801-legislature-passes-bill-easing-demolition-replacement-of-old-buildings-with-bigger-structures\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">and density authority<\/a> from counties and cities, which he said know their communities better than Tallahassee does.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gallon wants stronger infrastructure impact reviews before projects break ground in Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and Lighthouse Point, with developers rather than taxpayers covering the cost.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On insurance, he would seek a seat on the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee and revive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2026\/527\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">HB 527<\/a>, which died in committee last Session and would require a licensed human professional to sign off on every claim denial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Bogot\u00e1 native who arrived in 1995 and founded G&amp;G Insurance Adjusters, Gallon raised almost $19,000 and loaned himself $65,660. He had about $37,000 left by July 24.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stelnicki, 59, <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/746977-eric-stelnicki-hauls-200k-in-first-quarter-running-for-hd-100-lapping-foes-in-outside-bucks\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">filed<\/a> in April 2025 and raised the most outside money in the field \u2014 roughly $236,000 through his campaign account and another $201,400 through his political committee. That\u2019s on top of $122,000 in self-loans. By late last month, he had $294,000 remaining.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Much of his gains came from medical interests, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/776398-florida-medical-association-pac-backs-eric-stelnicki-for-hd-100\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Florida Medical Association PAC<\/a> and the Florida Podiatry Medical Association \u2014 both of which endorsed him \u2014 along with dozens of fellow doctors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other supporters of his campaign included Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia, the Florida Realtors Association, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Broward Police Benevolent Association, Florida Professional Firefighters and the Sun-Sentinel, which cited his healthcare expertise and his willingness to say Florida\u2019s abortion law should keep exceptions for rape, incest and trafficking victims.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stelnicki argued that the Legislature would benefit from having a practicing doctor within its ranks, noting he would be the only one in the House.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He ran on a promise to fight for lower homeowners insurance, expand workforce housing and enhance marine safety, among other things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rivals noted that he voted from Davie, well outside HD 100, for more than a decade before registering in the district in 2024. <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.fl.gov\/elections\/contacts\/frequently-asked-questions\/faq-candidates\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Florida law<\/a> requires state lawmakers to live in the district they represent by the time they\u2019re sworn in and be residents of the state at least two years before an election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vincent, 68, is a state-certified building contractor and was the only candidate who has held public office, having spent 14 years as a Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Commissioner, Vice Mayor and Mayor before leaving office in 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He campaigned on balanced budgets, public safety, coastal protection and running a government based on business principles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His campaign raised about $87,000 and spent $45,000. Notably, he was the only candidate who correctly identified the size of Florida\u2019s budget when the Sun-Sentinel asked. The outlet\u2019s editorial board ranked him as the field\u2019s second-strongest choice, while faulting him for sidestepping a question about abortion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not all candidates remained in consistent good standing with the Division of Elections.
