Both candidates raised around $40,000. And the discourse was respectful for most of the campaign, a marked departure from the heated battle between incumbent\u00a0Angie Nixon and former City Council and School Board Member Brenda Priestly-Jackson two years prior.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Endorsements represented the divide between the pragmatist Gibson and Jean-Bart, a lawyer and community activist who said Gibson was out of touch with the \u201cvery liberal progressive district\u201d that includes Northwest Jacksonville and the near Westside, including Avondale, Fairfax and Riverside.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.florida.gop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-764247 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Ads-RPOF-Newsletter_728x90.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Corrine Brown, the Fraternal Order of Police, the REALTORS PAC, bestbet and the First Coast Manufacturers Association backed Gibson. Senate Democratic Leader-designate\u00a0Tracie Davis\u00a0and Florida Rising supported Jean-Bart, meanwhile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Because write-in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bricebydesign.com\/about-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Brice Galliard<\/a> filed, the Primary was closed to everyone but Democrats.
