Wednesday’s joint practice in Jacksonville was a bit of a homecoming for one of the Carolina Panthers<\/a>‘ newest standout defenders.<\/p>\n

Linebacker Devin Lloyd returned to the Miller Electric Center for the first time since leaving the Jaguars<\/a> earlier this offseason. Lloyd, after four seasons in Jacksonville, signed with the Panthers<\/a> on a three-year, $42 million deal in the spring.<\/p>\n

Right at the beginning of his post-practice presser, Lloyd was asked how it felt to be back.<\/p>\n

“It was just nostalgic,” Lloyd replied. “Driving in and seeing the stadium, coming in the locker room, being in the visiting locker room for the first time. Coming on the field is just nostalgic. Seeing all these familiar faces, all my guys\u2014it was really cool.<\/p>\n

“But, yeah, being an opp, I don’t know. It was fun going against them.”<\/p>\n

The Jaguars selected Lloyd in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. His final campaign in Jacksonville proved to be his best, as he captured his first Pro Bowl nod while helping lead the Jags to an AFC South title.<\/p>\n

Now, Lloyd’s with the NFC South champs\u2014and he was encouraged, as an opp to his old friends, about their work this morning.<\/p>\n

“Comms [communication] were good,” he said of the Carolina defense. “Everybody was on the same page. It was a clean day communication-wise.”<\/p>\n

Friday should prove to be even more nostalgic for Lloyd, as he and the Panthers will hit the field at EverBank Stadium for their third preseason contest of the summer.<\/p>\n
