(WSVN) &#8211; As record-breaking temperatures continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/south-florida-continues-enduring-intense-heat-wave-as-officials-offer-tips-to-keep-cool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">impact South Florida<\/a>, residents say they are feeling the heat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, locals shared their thoughts on the <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/near-record-heat-across-south-florida-triggers-safety-warnings-from-officials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">near-record heat wave<\/a> impacting their lives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBrutal and stay home,\u201d said a resident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s definitely not fun,\u201d said another resident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One visitor also shared his perspective while he was visiting Fort Lauderdale with his family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re from the UK but we live in Bahrain, and they were born in Bahrain in the Middle East, so it\u2019s really hot,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a bit too hot, really. We\u2019ve been going back in the afternoons and coming out again in the evening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Wednesday\u2019s heat index rose to over 112 degrees, some locals shared their advice to avoid the heat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHydrate, all the time,\u201d said a Fort Lauderdale resident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c[Being] more inside, go into restaurants, trying to stay off the beach or outdoor dining,\u201d said another resident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While some tried to avoid the outdoors all together, others are forced to spend significant time outside for work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andy Magidow, owner of an animal daycare in Fort Lauderdale shared how the heat has impacted him and his canine friends.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m always just looking for shades, bright spots because it\u2019s just brutal out right now,\u201d said Magidow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magidow and his dogs avoided afternoon walks and created an alternative to keep his animals safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe do water Wednesdays, so we have a little floatie pool and a splash pad, and so it\u2019s a great way for the dogs to cool down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also shared advice to keep dogs safe during the increased heat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAlways check the pavement, I think that\u2019s number one, find shade, carry water,\u201d said Magidow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As South Florida waits for cooler temperatures, locals and others expressed their hopes for the heat wave to end.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put some cold beers in, we\u2019ll be fine,\u201d said the visitor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctor Danielle Cohen from Memorial Healthcare also advised to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated and to avoid sunlight when possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctor Ryan Queen from Broward Health Medical Center also shared his advice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd we\u2019ve been dealing with a lot of heat related injuries and heat related illness,\u201d he said. \u201cTry to stay hydrated, try to drink plenty of fluids, get out of the sun whether it\u2019s the shade or the air conditioning. And we recommend wearing light colored clothing, long sleeve shirts or performance shirts, keep that sun and the heat off you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is advised to stay cool as best as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
