That was out of 645,955 active eligible voters in the county.

The turnout rate was higher than the 19% turnout in the 2024 primaries but lower than the 29% turnout in the 2022 primaries.

Turnout and Nixon

Among Democrats, there was overwhelming support for Angie Nixon, the Jacksonville resident and Florida House member who sought the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

Nixon, a progressive, upset the better-financed Alex Vindman, a former National Security Council aide.

Statewide, Nixon defeated Vindman 56% to 44%, winning in most of Florida’s major metro areas. She ran particularly strong in Duval County, where she won nearly all of the county’s 159 precincts.

Nixon took about 80% of Duval’s Democratic votes, including early voters and those who cast ballots by mail.
