<\/p>\n\u201cThe Simpsons\u201d has been celebrating Halloween with \u201cTreehouse of Horror\u201d since 1990. Now, more than three decades later, Universal Studios Hollywood is turning one of its most memorable Halloween jokes into something fans can actually eat.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
New \u201cTreehouse of Horror\u201d-inspired food is coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2026, including a giant doughnut that calls back to the time Homer Simpson literally sold his soul for one.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not a full \u201cTreehouse of Horror<\/a>\u201d attraction or haunted house, but for fans who have wanted to see the series\u2019 Halloween tradition represented at Universal\u2019s Halloween event, it\u2019s a fun step in that direction. And it is in line with the hints Matt Selman, showrunner for \u201cThe Simpsons,\u201d has been dropping for a while<\/a>.<\/p>\n The new offerings were previewed ahead of Halloween Horror Nights, which begins Sept. 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood and runs select nights through Nov. 1.<\/p>\n Watch our quick clip below for an overview of the lineup.<\/p>\n Homer\u2019s deal with the Devil becomes reality<\/p>\n One of the standouts is the Mmm\u2026 Forbidden Pumpkin Donut, a giant sprinkled pumpkin doughnut served in a box featuring Devil Flanders. It\u2019s an homage (Homer-age?) to \u201cThe Devil and Homer Simpson,\u201d a segment from 1993\u2019s \u201cTreehouse of Horror IV.\u201d<\/p>\n After Homer declares that he would sell his soul for a doughnut, the Devil appears in the unlikely form of his relentlessly friendly neighbor Ned Flanders and takes him up on the offer. Three decades later, Universal is essentially serving its own version of that forbidden doughnut.<\/p>\n And the reference goes deeper.<\/p>\n Daddy\u2019s Soul Donut cold brew continues the joke<\/p>\n The Pumpkin Spice Cold Boo features another callback to the same \u201cTreehouse of Horror\u201d story.<\/p>\n The drink is labeled Daddy\u2019s Soul Donut and topped with a small sprinkled doughnut.<\/p>\n In the episode, Homer discovers that the Devil can\u2019t claim his soul until he finishes eating the doughnut. His solution is to save the final piece \u2014 although, being Homer, that plan doesn\u2019t last long.<\/p>\n The name \u201cDaddy\u2019s Soul Donut\u201d turns that entire plot into a food joke for fans who recognize the reference.<\/p>\n The \u201cTreehouse of Horror\u201d offerings go beyond Homer\u2019s infernal doughnut deal.<\/p>\n Wurst. Brat. Ever! transforms Comic Book Guy\u2019s famous \u201cWorst. Episode. Ever.\u201d line into a bratwurst pun. The brat is served in a bun with sauerkraut and sauce.<\/p>\n Sloppy D\u2019oh puts a food spin on Homer\u2019s signature \u201cD\u2019oh!\u201d with a sloppy Joe-style sandwich served with fries.<\/p>\n Then there\u2019s Road Scrapings, a deliberately unappetizing name for a much more appetizing-looking pile of loaded fries topped with fried chicken, sauce and crunchy toppings. This one seems inspired by Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel<\/a>. <\/p>\n Taken together, it\u2019s a small lineup with some surprisingly deep references. Attractions Magazine asked a Universal Studios Hollywood representative if any additional \u201cTreehouse of Horror\u201d additions could be expected, such as some lighting and effects to the Springfield U.S.A. area of the park during Halloween Horror Nights. <\/p>\n It seems this year\u2019s representation will be purely in food form.
