JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County \u2014 Congressman Greg Murphy joined families, veterans and advocates in Jacksonville for a rally calling for justice for people impacted by the Camp Lejeune water contamination.<\/p>\n
Murphy said thousands of service members, military families and civilian employees were exposed to contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune over several decades.<\/p>\n
He said many of those families are still waiting for their claims and cases to be resolved.<\/p>\n
The Camp Lejeune Justice Act allows certain people who were exposed to contaminated water at the base to seek compensation for illnesses and other harm tied to that exposure.<\/p>\n
Murphy called the law an important step toward accountability, but said more work remains.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the Congressman representing Camp Lejeune, I will continue standing with the veterans, service members, and families who have been affected by this contamination,\u201d Murphy said in a social media post.<\/p>\n
Murphy added that the federal government has a responsibility to follow through for those who served and their families.<\/p>\n
He also thanked those who attended the Jacksonville rally for continuing to bring attention to the issue.<\/p>\n
