{"id":37791,"date":"2025-11-07T20:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T20:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/37791\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T20:19:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T20:19:10","slug":"man-struck-and-killed-while-trying-to-cross-sr-50-in-orange-county-wftv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/37791\/","title":{"rendered":"Man struck and killed while trying to cross SR-50 in Orange County \u2013 WFTV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Troopers say a car struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday night in east Orange County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">It happened just before 7 p.m. along East Colonial Drive (SR-50) near Old Cheney Highway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">According to Florida Highway Patrol, a man was trying to cross Colonial Drive when he stepped directly into the path of a Chevrolet Cruz sedan traveling eastbound.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">He was rushed to a hospital but did not survive his injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Investigators did not release the man\u2019s name, but said he was 74, of Orlando.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Neither the driver of the Chevrolet nor his passenger were not hurt in the collision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">FHP said the men stayed on scene following the crash, which remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wftv.com\/mobile-apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wftv.com\/mobile-apps\">Click here<\/a> to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps.
