The event opens to the public at 11 am, with sandwich construction starting at noon. Planned on-site activities include face painting, salsa dancing, dominoes, nonprofit booths with children\u2019s activities, and refreshments.<\/p>\n
Teams will assemble the sandwich using traditional ingredients, including Cuban bread, meat, pickles, and mustard. Sections of the sandwich will be available for purchase after official judging takes place.<\/p>\n
House of Hope Chief Executive Officer Rob Ranieri said the event serves as an engaging initiative to highlight the organization\u2019s mission. \u201cThis is a really bold way to build awareness of our work in empowering our community to overcome hunger and hardship,\u201d Ranieri said. \u201cIt\u2019s also going to be great fun. Our teams are intent on breaking the current world record for the longest Cuban sandwich, and I believe we\u2019re going to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chef Chuchi Rivero, owner of Old Havana Cafe, highlighted the community partnership behind the event. \u201cWe love food, we love people, and we love the work of House of Hope,\u201d Rivero said. \u201cThis is a perfect project to bring the community together for a great cause. It\u2019s going to be truly historic.\u201d<\/p>\n
