{"id":379324,"date":"2026-08-23T23:22:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T23:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/379324\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T23:22:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T23:22:10","slug":"women-compete-in-miss-universe-haiti-pageant-in-miami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/379324\/","title":{"rendered":"Women compete in Miss Universe Haiti pageant in Miami"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 23, 2026 at 6:32 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Updated:\u00a0August 23, 2026 at 6:43 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 Contestants took the stage during the <a href=\"https:\/\/misshaitiamerica.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/misshaitiamerica.com\">Miss Universe Haiti<\/a> pageant on Sunday evening in Miami\u2019s Little Haiti neighborhood. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Melissa Sapini, who was Miss Universe Haiti 2025, will hand over the crown to the winner, who will represent Haiti in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missuniverse.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.missuniverse.com\/\">Miss Universe pageant<\/a> on Nov. 24 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI am a former Miss Massachusetts USA, so I have competed in Miss USA,\u201d said Sapini, a proud Haitian American. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/2490825648070473\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/2490825648070473\">Lulu Orange<\/a>, the director of the Miss Universe Haiti pageant, said each of the Haitian-American contestants represents the area where their parents are from. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHaiti is a beautiful country. We are beautiful people, and we are going through some challenging times right now, but we are rescilient and we will get through this,\u201c Orange said about the ongoing violence in Haiti and the end of temporary protected status in the U.S. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Little Haiti Cultural Complex hosted the pageant, which is usually held in Haiti.
