{"id":379492,"date":"2026-08-24T05:34:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T05:34:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/379492\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T05:34:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T05:34:26","slug":"orlando-hits-100th-90-degree-day-as-central-florida-heat-wave-continues-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/379492\/","title":{"rendered":"Orlando hits 100th 90-degree day as Central Florida heat wave continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 Central Florida is facing another day of dangerous heat as the region enters Day 9 of the ongoing heat wave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">A widespread heat advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid-90s. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Heat index values are expected to reach 102 to 108 degrees, creating potentially dangerous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">The heat won\u2019t be the only concern Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across Central Florida, with the eastern half of the region having the best chance for heavy rainfall and gusty winds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Even with storms in the forecast, temperatures will remain hot through the afternoon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Wednesday also marks a notable point in Orlando\u2019s long, hot summer: the 100th day this year with temperatures reaching at least 90 degrees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">On average, Orlando sees about 110 days of 90-degree-or-higher temperatures each year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">And while the current heat wave is nearing its end, 90-degree temperatures are still considered normal in Orlando through about Sept. 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Central Florida could still have plenty of 90-degree days ahead. In fact, another 30 or so days of 90-degree heat are possible before the season\u2019s typical end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">The good news is that the current heat wave is expected to wind down soon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Temperatures should gradually fall back toward seasonal levels by the end of the week and into the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wftv.com\/mobile-apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wftv.com\/mobile-apps\">Click here<\/a> to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps.
