The weapon has never been recovered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Biggerstaff vehemently denied ever giving Fernandez a weapon of any kind and said he had nothing to do with Bridegan\u2019s shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Last week, jurors heard from Bridegan\u2019s widow, two witnesses who came upon the murder scene, and investigators who detailed DNA, surveillance video, cellphone data and other evidence in the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Planned ambush\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Prosecutors have described the deadly shooting as a planned ambush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cThe killer was a stranger to Jared Bridegan. Prosecutors have suggested that ongoing tension was a major motive for Bridegan\u2019s murder, which they say was orchestrated by Gardner and Fernandez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators say the ambush was carried out by Henry Tenon, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2023\/01\/25\/jacksonville-beach-police-state-attorney-announce-significant-development-in-jared-bridegan-murder-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2023\/01\/25\/jacksonville-beach-police-state-attorney-announce-significant-development-in-jared-bridegan-murder-case\/\">a tenant at a rental property Fernandez owned<\/a> on Potomac Avenue in Northwest Jacksonville. An analyst testified last week that Tenon\u2019s DNA was found on the tire that had been left in the road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Gardner and Tenon have also been indicted in Bridegan\u2019s murder and have pleaded not guilty. They will have separate trials after Fernandez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Prosecutors allege Fernandez hired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/topic\/Henry_Tenon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/topic\/Henry_Tenon\/\">Tenon<\/a> to kill Bridegan, saying that Fernandez is Tenon\u2019s only link to a man he had never met. Correct?\u201d Dreicer asked again. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cThere is no physical evidence of that,\u201d Johns repeated. <\/p>\n<p>Key evidence: How did they find the blue truck?<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">ATF Agent Kenneth Stengel testified about the discovery of the blue, two-tone Ford F-150 that investigators say was captured on video being used in the killing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators had scoured the area for months after the shooting, and on Oct. 14, 2022, Stengel and a fellow agent used Google location data from Henry Tenon\u2019s device to locate the truck at the home of Jimmy Jones, who turned out to be a longtime family friend of Tenon. <\/p>\n<p>The blue two-tone F-150 believed to have been used in the Jared Bridegan murder was found at the home of a family friend of Henry Tenon months after the homicide. (WJXT)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The truck was visible from the street, and Stengel said Jones was cooperative. Stengel said the truck\u2019s discovery was a major break in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Stengel and Johns both admitted on cross-examination that investigators did not search Jones\u2019 home or the rest of the property for the missing firearm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">No DNA sample was taken from Jones, and no additional testing was conducted at the property. (WJXT)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Dreicer challenged that explanation, noting investigators had not recovered the firearm and had evidence that Tenon had been at the home. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cOther than the fact that the biggest break in the case was found at Jimmy Jones\u2019s house. Other than that, there was no reason to search the house,\u201d Dreicer said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Stifler made a point of asking Johns on re-direct about not searching Jones\u2019s home.
