Florida Panthers star Anton Lundell has settled into the rhythm of Greater Fort Lauderdale, so Visit Lauderdale named him an official brand ambassador in January. With back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships, he also knows a thing or two about life in the spotlight and where to go when it\u2019s time to unwind.<\/p>\n

For Lundell, Greater Fort Lauderdale is all about slowing down and enjoying what\u2019s around you, whether that means riding through Las Olas in a golf cart, spending time on the water or ending the day with a great meal.<\/p>\n

Start on Las Olas<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s one place that feels most like Anton\u2019s Greater Fort Lauderdale, it\u2019s Las Olas Boulevard. Palm trees sway over the sidewalk, storefronts glow in the late afternoon sun, and the street is just as suited for wandering as it is for settling in.<\/p>\n

Las Olas offers first-time visitors an easy entry point. Start with a coffee, browse boutiques and galleries, then let the day unfold. It\u2019s the kind of stretch where one stop turns into three and a quick visit becomes a full afternoon.<\/p>\n

Get out on the water<\/p>\n

Fishing is one of Anton Lundell\u2019s favorite pastimes. Back home in Finland, his family owns a boat, so being near the water feels familiar. In Greater Fort Lauderdale, visitors can cruise through the canals of the \u201cVenice of America,\u201d head offshore for deep-sea fishing or kayak through mangroves at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.<\/p>\n

For a first visit, Lundell recommends starting with the Water Taxi. It offers an easy way to get around, with routes along the New River and Intracoastal Waterway that pass waterfront homes, yachts and some of the area\u2019s most scenic stretches. Riders can hop on and off and explore at their own pace.<\/p>\n

Dine at Anton\u2019s go-to spots<\/p>\n

Anton Lundell knows where to go when it\u2019s time to eat. For a casual meal on Las Olas, he heads to Noodles Panini, where he orders either linguine with pesto and grilled chicken or the vodka pasta. It\u2019s a comforting, satisfying stop after a day out.<\/p>\n

For something more elevated, he also recommends Takato. Set along Fort Lauderdale Beach, the restaurant pairs Japanese-Korean flavours with an oceanfront setting, especially at sunset.<\/p>\n

Plan around Fort Lauderdale\u2019s biggest moments<\/p>\n

Anton Lundell also recommends visiting during one of Greater Fort Lauderdale\u2019s signature events. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, scheduled for Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, brings energy to the city, with yachts, busy docks and activity along the water.<\/p>\n

Later in the year, the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade on Dec. 12, turns the Intracoastal Waterway into a holiday celebration, with decorated boats, lights and crowds gathered along the shore.<\/p>\n

Add an unforgettable side quest<\/p>\n

Lundell recommends a visit to Everglades Holiday Park (photo above). He once brought friends visiting from Finland, and it was the first time for both Lundell and his friends. They watched the park\u2019s Gator Boys show, held a baby alligator and rode an airboat.<\/p>\n

The Everglades offer a different side of Greater Fort Lauderdale, with sawgrass, open skies and wildlife not found elsewhere on most itineraries.<\/p>\n

Cheer on the Cats<\/p>\n

And of course, no Anton Lundell guide would be complete without a Florida Panthers game at the Amerant Bank Arena. After a day spent exploring the place he calls home, watching him hit the ice is a fitting finish.<\/p>\n
