A South Florida<\/a> father is faced with heartbreak and devastation after his wife and 2-year-old daughter were killed in a lightning<\/a> strike as they tried to run from their car to the front door of their Broward<\/a> home during a thunderstorm<\/a> over the weekend.<\/p>\n

According to Margate police<\/a>, the mother and her daughter were struck by lightning<\/a> in the area of 7941 Northwest 1st Street in Margate around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n

A neighbor who CBS News Miami spoke with said he had just finished rushing his own family inside when he heard loud thunder and saw an orange glow.<\/p>\n

“My son, now, said to me, ‘Hey, Dad. I think somebody got hit. There’s a lady on the floor,'” Prince Moody said. “And I’m like, ‘What? No way. Stop, man.’ And he said, ‘No, look.’ And I looked out my window, and I saw a lady on the floor.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0Moody said he rushed across the street to try and help.<\/p>\n

A South Florida man is mourning his wife and 2-year-old daughter who were both struck and killed by lightning in Margate on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

“As I get closer, there’s also a toddler lying a couple of feet from the mother,” Moody said. “Charred. It’s a scene that I never want to see again.”<\/p>\n

Now, Kameron Glasgow is trying to process how his family was torn apart in seconds.<\/p>\n

“My daughter and my wife, they were amazing, amazing people,” he said, fighting through tears. “My wife, the biggest heart in the world. The biggest heart in the world.”<\/p>\n

Glasgow said his wife, 31-year-old Kenya Glasgow, put everyone in the world before herself.<\/p>\n

“That was my hero next to my dad,” Glasgow said. “Because I wanted to show up for people how my wife does. She helped make me into the man I am today.”<\/p>\n

Kennedy Glasgow was killed in a lightning strike along with her mother in Margate on Aug. 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

Glasgow said they were headed into the house for a family dinner when the lightning struck, killing Kenya and 2-year-old Kennedy.<\/p>\n

“We saw that the rain was picking up and we just said, ‘Hey. We need to get the girls inside,'” Kameron Glasgow said. “Just a typical thing that anyone would do. Put a blanket on their head and get inside.”<\/p>\n

Glasgow said it’s going to crush him when Kennedy’s twin sister asks about her sister and mother.<\/p>\n

“That’s something we’re going to have to get used to,” he said.<\/p>\n

Glasgow described Kennedy as infectious, saying she could sing every word of Benson Boone’s songs.<\/p>\n

“It’s going to be tough to lose somebody that I’ve been with for half of my life,” Kameron Glasgow said. “It’s going to be tough. But I’ll be OK. I have to be because I have another beautiful daughter inside there. But for her to lose her twin sister, words can’t describe this feeling.”<\/p>\n

A South Florida mother also lost her son to a lightning strike<\/p>\n

Lealani Day knows the pain the Glasgow family is feeling. Two years ago her 16-year-old son Cameron was struck and killed by lightning. He was near a tree struck by lightning \u2014 the odds of that happening are less than 1 in a million.<\/p>\n

“I never, in a million years, would have thought that my son or anyone I know personally would have lost their life being struck by lightning,” she said.<\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation by the Margate Police Department.<\/p>\n
