TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – New details emerged Monday morning regarding a crash that involved a Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office vehicle and left one pedestrian dead.<\/p>\n
The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. Friday in the area of West Pensacola Street and South Ausley Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
Over the weekend<\/a>, FHP confirmed to WCTV that the vehicle involved in the crash was a marked LCSO vehicle. <\/p>\n An investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling west in the outside lane of West Pensacola Street, approaching the intersection of South Ausley Lane.<\/p>\n A 46-year-old woman was walking north across the east and westbound lanes on West Pensacola Street.<\/p>\n Moments later, troopers said the pedestrian walked across the westbound lanes into the path of the vehicle.<\/p>\n \u201cThe traffic light was green for west and eastbound travel,\u201d FHP later clarified to WCTV Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n As a result, the vehicle collided with her just before coming to a controlled stop.<\/p>\n After the incident occurred, the pedestrian was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. However, she was later pronounced dead by staff.<\/p>\n In a statement shared with WCTV Monday afternoon, the sheriff\u2019s office said \u201cIt\u2019s a tragic incident any time someone loses their life.
