(WITN) &#8211; The community is gathering today to remember a mainstay of the Jacksonville Police Department who died on August 9th. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A celebration of life is set to begin at 11 a.m. at River of Life Church on Gum Branch Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jacksonville Police say the processional route can be seen in the photo:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Brown Processional\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/QQ6T2V43PND53EI5HUJ4WLAIEA.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"813\" \/>Brown Processional(Jacksonville Police)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials add that they do not anticipate any impacts to school arrivals or dismissals, but there will be some traffic delays between approximately 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. along the route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials ask that if you plan to be along the route tomorrow, please be mindful not to block any roadways and that private businesses are still operating. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Brown will then be laid to rest at Coastal Carolina Veterans\u2019 Cemetery on Montford Landing Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers should expect some traffic delays during the services. Onslow County deputies say any information regarding impacts to local traffic will be released if needed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Brown retired from the Jacksonville Police Department in December 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/08\/10\/community-remembers-longest-serving-police-officer-jacksonville-following-his-death\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/08\/10\/community-remembers-longest-serving-police-officer-jacksonville-following-his-death\/\">at 98 years old<\/a>, after 68 years of serving the community.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"XY Brown memorial sign\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/CWYULITAGNBVBEWRTU6GQLTEZ4.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>XY Brown memorial sign(Northwoods Elementary School)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was the department\u2019s oldest officer and was believed to be the oldest serving police officer in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
