A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested after police said he attacked his fianc\u00e9e during an early-morning domestic dispute at their Miramar home on Monday.<\/p>\n
Miramar Police officers responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the 11200 block of Southwest 45th Court following reports of a domestic battery involving 27-year-old Deputy Isaiah John Romeo Williams and his fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n
Williams had left the scene before officers arrived but later surrendered to authorities, police said.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest report, the woman had been dropped off at the couple’s home by a male friend and found her belongings on the front porch.<\/p>\n
Police allege Williams approached her, yelled at her and punched her in the face before strangling her for approximately 20 seconds.<\/p>\n
The arrest report states that the woman then pulled out a firearm, which Williams allegedly grabbed from her hand and hid.<\/p>\n
Williams was charged with simple battery, domestic battery by strangulation, robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm, and tampering with or altering evidence, according to records.<\/p>\n
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Williams was placed on administrative investigative leave without pay following his arrest.<\/p>\n
He remained in jail as of Monday night.<\/p>\n
