A 47-year-old Fort Lauderdale man, Hebert Titus Wilson, has been booked into the Floyd County Jail after being accused of using a fraudulent email account to trick a Rome man who owns High Voltage Prints into wiring $45,000 for equipment.<\/p>\n

According to the allegations, Wilson received the money after an email account was created to impersonate a known business associate of the victim.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the fraudulent email was made to appear as though it came from the victim\u2019s legitimate business contact. However, one letter in the email address was changed, allowing Wilson to allegedly provide the victim with different banking and routing information.<\/p>\n

The victim, who was conducting legitimate business with the associate, subsequently wired $45,000 for a piece of equipment to the account provided through the fraudulent communication, according to the allegations.<\/p>\n

Authorities accuse Wilson of obtaining the funds through deceitful and artful means and depriving the victim and his business of the money.<\/p>\n

Wilson is charged with felony theft by deception.<\/p>\n
