{"id":380863,"date":"2026-08-25T18:02:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T18:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/380863\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T18:02:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T18:02:10","slug":"3-detained-after-police-pursuit-ends-in-fort-lauderdale-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/380863\/","title":{"rendered":"3 detained after police pursuit ends in Fort Lauderdale, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 25, 2026 at 12:52 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Updated:\u00a0August 25, 2026 at 1:16 PM<\/p>\n<p>lead-art-block.fullscreen-enterExpand<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/5OUBNV37PVAUPOT6Q2TJUIFNLM.jpeg\"  width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\"\/>(WPLG) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 Three people were taken into custody Tuesday after a police chase involving Fort Lauderdale police officers and Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/08\/25\/detienen-a-tres-personas-tras-persecucion-policial-que-termino-en-fort-lauderdale-segun-la-policia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/08\/25\/detienen-a-tres-personas-tras-persecucion-policial-que-termino-en-fort-lauderdale-segun-la-policia\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to Fort Lauderdale police, an officer located a vehicle at approximately 11:30 a.m. that had just been involved in a \u201cfelony incident\u201d in Pompano Beach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said the vehicle had previously fled from BSO deputies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A Fort Lauderdale officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit, according to FLPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">BSO deputies and the agency\u2019s Aviation Unit later joined the pursuit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities said the chase came to an end in the 1600 block of West Sunrise Boulevard after Fort Lauderdale police deployed a grappler, a device designed to help officers stop fleeing vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said three people \u201cimmediately bailed out of the vehicle\u201d and ran from the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">All three were taken into custody a short time later, according to FLPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities have not released the identities of those arrested or details about the felony incident in Pompano Beach that preceded the pursuit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">BSO is taking the lead on the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 News From Your Neighborhood<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body__copyright\">Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com &#8211;
