{"id":381079,"date":"2026-08-25T22:30:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T22:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/381079\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T22:30:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T22:30:47","slug":"here-is-a-behind-the-scenes-look-at-the-hollywood-police-departments-new-headquarters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/381079\/","title":{"rendered":"Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the Hollywood Police Department\u2019s new headquarters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Hollywood Police Chief Jeff Devlin said he doesn\u2019t miss the old and \u201cdark and dingy\u201d headquarters. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/08\/25\/asi-es-la-nueva-sede-del-departamento-de-policia-de-hollywood-tras-bastidores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/08\/25\/asi-es-la-nueva-sede-del-departamento-de-policia-de-hollywood-tras-bastidores\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Devlin praised \u201cthe openness and airiness\u201d of the Hollywood Police Department\u2019s new 100,000-square-foot headquarters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Devlin said the design of the first floor \u201cinvites collaboration, cooperation, and communication\u201d because of its accessibility. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cYou can access internal affairs, property records through separate entrances, and the records department right through the lobby,\u201d Devlin said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The glassy building at 401 South Park Road cost the city\u2019s taxpayers more than $80 million. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The design includes rooms named after fallen officers, including the roll call room named after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodfl.org\/1339\/Officer-Yandy-Chirino\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodfl.org\/1339\/Officer-Yandy-Chirino\">Officer Yandy Chirino<\/a>, who died on Oct. 17, 2021, after a car burglary suspect shot him. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/53ELLM5PJFGEHLORQ3LDGC3ISY.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>HOLLYWOOD POLICE: The new headquarters has a dynamic firing range for Hollywood police officers to train at. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">For police officers\u2019 training, the new 50-yard firing range has a dynamic targeting system. There is also a fitness center and a defense tactics room. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The real-time intelligence center has screens with live feeds from more than 40 surveillance cameras, a live view of police officers\u2019 locations, and the capability to get drones up in the sky to relay information to the police officers on the ground, police said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt has more room for growth and technology,\u201d said Deanna Bettineschi, the department\u2019s public information manager. \u201cIt\u2019s something we have been very excited about for so long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">City officials haven\u2019t announced their plans for the old police headquarters.
