HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Rose Alexander and Kody Calitri think they\u2019ve found a slice of paradise on Apollo Beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all moved here, found a little hidden gem,\u201d Alexander said. \u201cWe live here. We work here. We\u2019re raising our families and kids here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got everything at your fingertips. You\u2019re not far from the beach. You\u2019ve got the water,\u201d added fellow resident Calitri, touting the area. \u201cIt\u2019s just a good life.\u201d<\/p>\n

It’s a life they would like to preserve. That is why they are part of the South Shore Legacy Fund<\/a>, a community nonprofit devoted to improving the South Shore area \u2014 including Apollo Beach.<\/p>\n

As part of that effort, the group will host a cleanup event on Saturday<\/a>, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. to noon.<\/p>\n

The group will gather Saturday at the corner of Fairway Boulevard and Apollo Beach Boulevard, next to the Dollar General store.<\/p>\n

They will then clean up 4 miles of Apollo Beach Boulevard before a pizza party at Apollo Pizza<\/a> when the work is done.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first impression (on Apollo Beach Boulevard). This is what people see when they\u2019re coming to the area,\u201d Alexander said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of trash ends up here. And if you don\u2019t pick it up \u2014 and a lot of people don\u2019t \u2014 it ends up in the water; it ends up in people\u2019s yards, and it just doesn\u2019t look good,\u201d Calitri said.<\/p>\n
