ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 A traffic stop in Orange County near SeaWorld turned into a lengthy chase Monday night that included speeds topping 115 mph and a wrong-way stretch on International Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
Troopers say they spotted 38-year-old Tyrell Jack driving recklessly on I-4 near State Road 528 and attempted to stop him. FHP says Jack fled, hit concrete barriers on a 528 exit ramp, and continued driving.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest affidavit, Jack then drove the wrong way down an on-ramp and onto International Drive, a major tourist corridor.<\/p>\n
FHP says troopers attempted multiple PIT maneuvers before successfully stopping the vehicle near Sea Harbor Drive, between the entrances to SeaWorld and Aquatica.<\/p>\n
Troopers say Jack was checked out at a hospital before being booked into the Orange County Jail. FHP reported no injuries to troopers or bystanders.<\/p>\n
Dulce Tejeda, who visits the area regularly with her young children, said she is cautious at night because of traffic and drinking.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that it\u2019s pretty common nowadays with everything going on,\u201d she said. \u201cI-4 just keeps getting crazier and crazier, and even the tourist areas you know. They keep getting a little more dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Investigators also reported finding a printer, an eraser, dozens of stolen cards, and $3,200 in cash in the back seat of the suspect\u2019s car. <\/p>\n
FHP said Jack is facing 42 charges associated with that alleged fraud scheme. <\/p>\n
Jack has been in and out of prison for more than 15 years, with lengthy criminal records and traffic violations in three central Florida counties. <\/p>\n
His longest stint in prison was more than three years for a 2008 case where he was found guilty of resisting an officer with violence, according to records from the Florida Department of Corrections.<\/p>\n
An FHP spokesperson said no one was available Tuesday afternoon for an interview regarding this incident, yet said in a statement, \u201cThis case remains an active criminal investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n
FHP said the pursuit was recorded, and News 6 has requested the video.<\/p>\n
