Police said he was connected to the deadly shooting of Natasha Moses, a mother of four from St. Petersburg. According to investigators, King and Moses had been in a relationship for more than 5 years.

After the shooting, police said King fled south on I-75. Troopers spotted him in Lee County and used a maneuver near Alico Road to stop his vehicle.

This led to a standoff, during which troopers fired into King’s truck. Law enforcement worked for hours before taking him into custody.

Prosecutors filed a motion Saturday asking the judge to keep King in jail pending trial.

DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet.
