ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 An Orlando man has been indicted on federal charges stemming from an armed bank robbery in Altamonte Springs, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Middle District of Florida.<\/p>\n
Kelean Lerod Cobb, 38, is charged with bank robbery, brandishing a firearm during a violent crime and possessing a firearm as a prohibited person.<\/p>\n
Court documents allege Cobb entered an Altamonte Springs bank on Feb. 27 while wearing a mask and dark clothing.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said he jumped over the teller counter, pointed a dark-colored pistol at two bank employees and ordered one of them to open a cash drawer.<\/p>\n
Cobb allegedly took approximately $277 before fleeing. Investigators later identified him as the suspected robber, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n
The indictment also alleges Cobb possessed a firearm on Aug. 12 despite being prohibited from doing so because of previous felony convictions. Federal prosecutors said his criminal history includes robbery with a firearm, aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement and trafficking in stolen property.<\/p>\n
If convicted on all counts, Cobb faces a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years and up to life in federal prison.<\/p>\n
An indictment is a formal accusation and does not establish guilt. Cobb is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
The FBI, Altamonte Springs Police Department and Seminole County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigated the case.<\/p>\n
