JACKSONVILLE, Fla \u2014 The Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) presented a JEA employee with its Professional Excellence Award during the utility\u2019s Board of Directors meeting. Vegetative Management Specialist Senior Joe Anderson is the inaugural recipient of the award that recognizes \u201cindividuals who have consistently demonstrated a commitment to their utility, public power and\/or the improvement of services and reliability.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout his career at JEA, Joe\u2019s work has reflected the best of public power: commitment, service and a focus on doing the right thing for our customers and community,\u201d said JEA Interim Managing Director and CEO Jody Brooks. \u201dHis work shows how grid safety and reliability can be balanced with protecting and preserving our natural environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
JEA said the Vegetative Management team oversees a 2.5-year proactive routine cycle trimming schedule that maps real-time vegetation growth against circuit outage data. The utility added that Anderson\u2019s oversight \u201ctranslates into quantifiable operational success across JEA\u2019s 900-square-mile service territory.\u201d According to JEA, under Anderson\u2019s guidance, it achieved its 15th consecutive year as a national Tree Line USA Utility by the Arbor Day Foundation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a new award for FMEA and an opportunity for Florida public power utilities to recognize one of their own for their exceptional service to public power,\u201d said FMEA Executive Director Amy Zubaly. \u201cCongratulations to Joe.
