FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)\u2014 A Cape Coral<\/a>\u00a0man has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for making interstate threats to kill multiple people across three states, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Paul Richard Lukas<\/a>, 51, was sentenced to four years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Kyle Dudek, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.<\/p>\n

Court records show that on Jan. 30, Lukas made several threatening phone calls saying he would kill multiple people in Florida, Georgia and Alaska \u2014 about a month after he was released from Florida state prison for violent offenses.<\/p>\n

One of the victims reported the threats to the FBI, which then asked the Cape Coral Police Department<\/a> for help.<\/p>\n

Less than an hour after the FBI received word of the threats, Cape Coral police found Lukas at his home, where they also found several empty rifle cases.<\/p>\n

When handing down the sentence, the court took into account Lukas’s lengthy criminal history of roughly 40 prior adult convictions, many involving batteries, assaults and threats against others.<\/p>\n

Lukas pleaded guilty on May 20.<\/p>\n

The FBI and the Cape Coral Police Department investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Redavid prosecuted it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FORT MYERS, Fla.
