A Miami man was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to steal more than $8,600 from the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative.<\/p>\n
According to the Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Luis Albert Alonso, 33, illegally altered a check.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlonso stole a dividend check from FKEC intended for one of his relatives, altered the check, and made two mobile deposits using that altered check into his personal bank account totaling approximately $8,648,\u201d MCSO alleges.\u00a0\u201cThe FKEC and banks involved noticed discrepancies and notified the Sheriff\u2019s Office. Detectives were able to collect evidence in the case with help from the banks and FKEC.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
