DAYTON \u2014 A man\u2019s body was recovered from the Great Miami River in Dayton on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Rescue crews were called to the 2300 block of West River Road around 5:06 p.m. after kayakers spotted a body. <\/p>\n

Dayton Fire Department confirmed it was an adult man, but said they cannot at this time say for sure if it\u2019s the man reported missing over the weekend. <\/p>\n

News Center 7 previously reported<\/a> that a man went missing on Sunday after going into the water at the River Corridor Bikeway near Carillon Boulevard.<\/p>\n

The search for the man was called off on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Trevor Barnes, a nephew of the missing man, said his friends went out on the water Wednesday to look for his uncle. <\/p>\n

\u201cAbout an hour and a half later, my mom received a call that they found a body, but we weren\u2019t sure who it was,\u201d Barnes said. <\/p>\n

He was grateful to have closure. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s closure and relief that his body\u2019s been found. I would say that. Not worrying every night if they\u2019re going to find him,\u201d Barnes said. <\/p>\n

He said his uncle would \u201cdo anything for anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018It sucks that they\u2019re gonna have to grow up without a father, he said. <\/p>\n

The identification of the body is pending an investigation by the Montgomery County Coroner\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n
