Many veterans from the past few years are gone, and the team is bringing in lower-cost veterans on one-year, \u201cprove it\u201d contracts while relying on rookies and second-year players to step up. The roster features many new faces hoping to claim a long-term spot as the franchise rebuilds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Not everyone is new, however, and a returning veteran could play a major role in Miami\u2019s rebuild. Entering his fourth season, cornerback JuJu Brents is returning to the team after a foot injury landed him on injured reserve during the 2025 season. According to Jake Gibson over at Miami Dolphins on SI, Brents might be the \u201cx-factor\u201d the Miami defense needs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1bij9g78 _1mt21p01\">Both Brents and head coach Jeff Hafley shared optimism about his skill set and what having him on the field means for the secondary, but there\u2019s a very obvious concern with Brents, being his staggering, well-documented list of injuries in his young football career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1bij9g78 _1mt21p01\">If he can overcome those, he could team with first-round pick Chris Johnson to give the Dolphins a high-end cornerback tandem for 2026 and maybe beyond.
